i was out tonight with people from outside of ny and i said livng out of nyc would be terrible and all these people got mad pissed...i'm sure other parts of the country could be very cool, but people from outside of manhattan/nyc seem to get very defensive if you hate on non-manattanhites...whatsup with that? i mean, isn't manhattan the best place in the world to live? am i wrong?

Representin' Queens, biotch.

I can't imagine living outside of NYC Metro, either. Of course, I've never left the area for more than two weeks ever.

Honestly one of the main reasons I could never leave is because I can't live somewhere without great pizza and bagels, respectively. Packaged pizza bagels don't count for either of those.

Are you serious, Luke? Clearly, it's all a matter of priorities.

(Read "Clearly" above to yourself in a Bill Walton voice.)

As a young single guy I would've liked to live in Manhattan...

... but I can't imagine raising a family in the city.

My pending move to South Jersey shows that I'm even getting tired of the city-like elements of Central Jersey.

If it was at all practical, I could easily see myself moving to Sedona, Arizona or someplace similar where there are not convenient bagels and pizza and cool bars with hot women open until 4 A.M., but at the same time every morning when you wake up it's gorgeous, peaceful, non-rush hour and you would see some of the same faces everyday.

Now, granted, non-urban areas do have traffic, and yes, whatever neighboorhood you inhabit within NYC Metro does have some familiar faces everyday, and I understand that your little neighboorhood or area within NYC can seem like your little hometown, but still.

If you live in a scenic more quiet area, when/if you get bored and need excitement you take a trip to NYC, Las Vegas, etc...

Most of the time of our weeks is spent hanging out with friends, working, watching TV, and sleeping anyway.

As a final thought, my blog post doesn't really relate to this comment, but I need to promote readership of my blog whenever possible.

I think suburbia fits me quite nicely. Living in Manhattan certainly has it's advantages (e.g. public transportation, 24 hour delivery service, etc...) but there are disadvantages as well. As much a pain as it is, I love fixing up and maintaining my house. Mowing the lawn sucks, but it's such a good feeling seeing it all nice and neat when it's finished. Same with any project I have in/on the house. I wouldn't be able to experience those things living in Manhattan - especially since the cost of an actual house/brownstone in Manhattan is uber expensive.
